El libro es el relato sobre el origen y la razón de ser de la lucha a favor de la sanidad pública que este médico granadino viene ejerciendo desde hace años. Su activismo ha conseguido no solo unir a toda la ciudadanía granadina en torno a esta causa sino también ha conseguido frenar desafortunadas decisiones políticas que iban a causar grandes despropósitos y desaguisados en lo concerniente a la situación hospitalaria de esa ciudad y su provincia, en el presente y en el futuro. A lo que hay que añadir que también ha conseguido unir a una gran parte de la ciudadanía andaluza y del resto de España y de Latinoamérica, a través de las redes sociales y avivar el debate en torno a la actual política de recortes que se viene ejerciendo por parte de los poderes públicos que querían ( y siguen queriendo) desmantelar dicha sanidad. Poderes públicos que irónicamente se preocupan más de los intereses privados.
Pero, por otro lado, el autor nos muestra también todo un alegato a la utilización de la libertad de pensamiento que toda persona debe ejercer para ser más crítica, más responsable y más activa frente a la situación actual de desequilibrio político-económico de la sociedad española y así poder luchar contra las injusticias y desigualdades, en distintos ámbitos (no solo en el sanitario) denunciándolas, mostrando oposición a la injusticia primando como valores humanos la responsabilidad, la solidaridad, la igualdad y la perseverancia para lograr una sociedad menos conformista, más igualitaria y auténticamente demócrata.
El problema de estos postulados es que la critica sin aportar soluciones realmente es algo muy fácil y ese es el problema del libro. Deseando se recupere de sus problemas de salud.
Los grandes retos requieren una lucha contracorriente, y esta batalla la deben iniciar los que pueden. No podemos exigir a todos que hagan el mismo esfuerzo, sino a cada uno el que sea capaz de realizar en la medida de sus posibilidades, tanto económicas como del tiempo que le puedan dedicar.
Al ocuparnos únicamente de nuestro bienestar y no trabajar en equipo perdemos la conciencia social. Y, por desgracia, es un mal muy frecuente que se da en todos los sectores.
Los peores enemigos del trabajo en equipo son las personas que no se sienten completamente realizadas con su labor.
Cuando una persona decide dar un paso al frente y denunciar las irregularidades que ve, puede enfrentarse a diferentes consecuencias en función de cómo actúe:
✔ La soledad afecta a quienes luchan por el interés propio. Si una persona denuncia cualquier cosa por motivos personales o por venganza, los demás le dejarán de lado, ya que, tarde o temprano, entenderán que no perseguía el interés del grupo, sino solo el suyo.
✔ La frustración deriva de la lucha por el interés común. Cuando alguien defiende los intereses de todos, es frecuente encontrarse ante la pasividad o el silencio de aquellos que también ven el problema, pero no se atreven a hacer nada.
✔ Pero, además, hay quien se deja llevar por el miedo . Estas personas saben que asumir la responsabilidad y luchar por mejorar los intereses de todos conlleva un aumento en su carga de trabajo y salir de su zona de confort. Y lo que es peor: intentan trasladar su cobardía y proyectarla en el que se está moviendo…
En el año 2012, nació la Fundación Spiribol, dedicada a la promoción del deporte como base para ayudar a niños con dificultades sociales. Viajé y recorrí numerosos colegios de todos los puntos de España. Observé con asombro la grave deficiencia y desigualdad que impera en nuestra educación pública entre distintas comunidades autónomas, pero también tuve la suerte de cruzarme en el camino con grandes profesionales que se entregan a sus alumnos para proporcionarles las mismas oportunidades que al resto.
Conocí al grupo teatral El Tricicle, que me ayudó a consolidar la fundación con su imagen, con su tiempo y su dinero. Más tarde, los futbolistas del Fútbol Club Barcelona Carles Puyol y Andrés Iniesta, y el excapitán del Real Madrid, Fernando Hierro, se sumaron a esta iniciativa. Su colaboración nos permitió crear en Granada unas instalaciones para los niños, un refugio en el que recibieran cariño, diversión y mucho amor.
En Granada la figura de Spiriman como movimiento social se ha convertido en un verdadero ejemplo de que despertar a la sociedad conformista es posible. Hay mucha gente deseando actuar, pero no sabe cómo hacerlo. Aquí es donde cada uno ha de asumir su papel. A mí me tocó el de liderar la causa.
Ser testigo de las numerosas injusticias e irregularidades que se dan en el sistema sanitario impulsó mi deseo de movilizar a la gente para defender la sanidad. Pero enseguida fui consciente de que debía ir más allá.
Una de las razones del deterioro de la sanidad pública durante los últimos años es la fuga de grandes profesionales a otros países. Las razones principales son la falta de motivación y las malas condiciones laborales. Muchos se han ido al extranjero y otros tantos han decidido trabajar en la sanidad privada.
Las pésimas condiciones laborales a las que estamos sometidos los profesionales sanitarios derivan de una gestión que degrada y recorta personal en los hospitales públicos. Como consecuencia, se obtiene una gestión lamentable que produce pérdidas y despilfarra dinero. La intención de esta jugada es poder derivar a la sanidad privada pacientes por conciertos con entidades privadas. Los mismos que provocan el caos en la sanidad pública son hábilmente cesados y colocados a los pocos meses en hospitales privados como gerentes o directores médicos.
¿Sabías que simplemente cruzar la puerta de Urgencias en Andalucía tiene un coste de 143 euros? ¿O que una consulta médica de atención primaria en los centros de salud en horario continuado vale 83,65 euros? ¿Y que solicitar una UVI móvil terrestre en zona urbana implica un gasto de 727,37 euros?
Uno de los peores problemas de nuestra sanidad es que no somos conscientes del gasto que supone cada uno de los servicios que usamos con total libertad. Si los ciudadanos estuvieran informados, el uso sería mucho más responsable. Para conseguirlo se podría implantar algo parecido a lo que hacen algunas entidades bancarias, que comunican a sus clientes el ahorro que les está suponiendo tener una tarjeta contratada con ellos.
La partidocracia facilita que los políticos que acceden a las instituciones públicas puedan abusar de su poder y cometer actos de corrupción (por acción u omisión), quedando impunes gracias a las normativas que ellos mismos aprueban. Y las consecuencias pueden llegar a ser muy graves, ya que esto:
✔ Atenta contra la sociedad , el orden moral, la estabilidad democrática y el desarrollo integral de los pueblos.
✔ Genera marginalidad , exclusión y miedo en los más pobres, ya que legitima que los políticos usen el poder en su provecho.
✔ Se vincula con otras formas de injusticias, como el fraude, la discriminación, la omisión de perseguir delitos o castigar infracciones, la aparición de los indultos. Incluso la creación de oposiciones y concursos amañados para acceder a cargos públicos.
✔ Afecta negativamente a la administración de justicia , a los procesos electorales, al pago de impuestos, a las relaciones económicas y comerciales y a la comunicación social.
✔ Se liga a la venta de favores y decisiones , al tráfico de influencias, al enriquecimiento ilícito, al soborno, etc.
✔ Refleja el deterioro de los valores y virtudes morales , especialmente de la honradez y de la justicia.
Además, a todo ello hay que añadir otro elemento fundamental: el coste económico que conlleva la partidocracia. Este sistema malversa los fondos públicos para utilizarlos en beneficio de los poderosos.
No solo roban nuestro dinero, que con tanto esfuerzo damos por medio de nuestros impuestos para obtener un país más solidario, sino que llevan a cabo actuaciones que para nada benefician a la ciudadanía, como:
✔ Los contratos injustificados de empresas y de personal.
✔ La omisión o ineficacia a la hora de perseguir delitos que perjudican al resto de personas.
✔ El pago de indemnizaciones por reclamaciones debidas al mal funcionamiento de las administraciones que asume el dinero público y no los causantes de la infracción.
✔ La concesión de subvenciones y ayudas de dudosa legalidad cuyo dinero no puede recuperarse.
✔ La creación de un sistema fiscal a base de impuestos, tasas y cánones excesivos, sin posibilidad real de control por el pueblo, que llega a ser confiscatorio.
El hecho de que no se haya producido ya un cambio drástico en España se debe a:
✔ El desconocimiento generalizado del funcionamiento del sistema político e institucional de nuestro país.
✔ El miedo de la población a enfrentarse a aquellos que viven del sistema partidocrático.
✔ Hay muchos interesados en mantener este sistema, con el cual se evita que la mayoría piense o actúe.
✔ A muchos les resulta más cómodo votar cada cuatro años y mantenerse en su zona de confort, eludiendo su responsabilidad de luchar por sus derechos y libertades.
Pero solo es cuestión de tiempo, ya que cada vez somos más los que hemos comprendido que solo un cambio de sistema político podría minimizar o evitar muchos de los problemas estructurales e injusticias que padecemos en España.
Nunca respetaré a aquellos que mienten, manipulan e intoxican nuestra sociedad con su hipocresía para contaminarla de individualismo e insolidaridad; es decir, no se puede respetar a los que no se respetan a sí mismos.
«La sed de justicia solo se sacia con justicia».
Recordando a Umberto Eco en «el nombre de la rosa»:

The book is the story about the origin and the raison d’être of the fight in favor of public health that this Granada-born doctor has been exercising for years. His activism has managed not only to unite all the citizens of Granada around this cause, but has also managed to stop unfortunate political decisions that were going to cause great absurdities and misgivings regarding the hospital situation of that city and its province, in the present and in the future. To which we must add that it has also managed to unite a large part of the Andalusian citizenship and the rest of Spain and Latin America, through social networks and to fuel the debate around the current policy of cuts that is being exercised by the public powers that wanted (and still want) to dismantle said health. Public powers that ironically care more about private interests.
But, on the other hand, the author also shows us an entire plea for the use of freedom of thought that everyone should exercise to be more critical, more responsible and more active in the face of the current situation of political-economic imbalance in society Spanish and thus be able to fight against injustices and inequalities, in different areas (not only in health), denouncing them, showing opposition to injustice, prioritizing responsibility, solidarity, equality and perseverance as human values to achieve a less conformist society, more egalitarian and authentically democratic.
The problem with these postulates is that criticism without providing solutions is really something very easy and that is the problem of the book. Wishing you recover from your health problems.
Great challenges require a fight against the current, and this battle must be started by those who can. We cannot demand that everyone make the same effort, but each one that is capable of doing to the best of their ability, both financially and in the time they can dedicate.
By taking care only of our well-being and not working as a team, we lose social conscience. And, unfortunately, it is a very frequent evil that occurs in all sectors.
The worst enemies of teamwork are people who do not feel completely fulfilled with their work.
When a person decides to step up and report wrongdoing that he sees, he may face different consequences depending on how he acts:
✔ Loneliness affects those who fight for self-interest. If a person denounces anything for personal reasons or for revenge, others will put him aside, since, sooner or later, they will understand that he was not pursuing the interest of the group, but only his own.
✔ Frustration derives from the fight for the common interest. When someone defends the interests of all, it is common to find themselves before the passivity or silence of those who also see the problem, but do not dare to do anything.
✔ But, in addition, there are those who are carried away by fear. These people know that taking responsibility and striving for the betterment of all leads to an increase in their workload and to move out of their comfort zone. And what is worse: they try to transfer their cowardice and project it onto the one who is moving …
In 2012, the Spiribol Foundation was born, dedicated to promoting sport as a basis for helping children with social difficulties. I traveled and toured numerous schools in all parts of Spain. I observed with amazement the serious deficiency and inequality that prevails in our public education between different autonomous communities, but I was also fortunate to come across great professionals who give themselves to their students to provide them with the same opportunities as the rest.
I met the theater group El Tricicle, which helped me to consolidate the foundation with its image, with its time and money. Later, the footballers of the Barcelona Football Club Carles Puyol and Andrés Iniesta, and the former Real Madrid captain, Fernando Hierro, joined this initiative. Their collaboration allowed us to create facilities for children in Granada, a refuge where they would receive affection, fun and a lot of love.
In Granada, the figure of Spiriman as a social movement has become a true example that awakening the conformist society is possible. There are many people wanting to act, but do not know how to do it. This is where everyone has to assume their role. It was my turn to lead the cause.
Witnessing the many injustices and irregularities in the healthcare system fueled my desire to mobilize people to defend healthcare. But I was immediately aware that I had to go further.
One of the reasons for the deterioration of public health in recent years is the flight of great professionals to other countries. The main reasons are lack of motivation and poor working conditions. Many have gone abroad and many others have decided to work in private healthcare.
The appalling working conditions that healthcare professionals are subjected to derive from a management that degrades and cuts staff in public hospitals. As a result, you get a sorry management that produces losses and wastes money. The intention of this move is to be able to refer patients to private healthcare for concerts with private entities. Those who cause chaos in public health are cleverly dismissed and placed within a few months in private hospitals as managers or medical directors.
Did you know that simply crossing the emergency door in Andalusia has a cost of 143 euros? Or that a medical consultation of primary attention in the health centers in continuous hours costs 83.65 euros? And that requesting a land mobile UVI in an urban area implies an expense of 727.37 euros?
One of the worst problems in our health care is that we are not aware of the cost of each of the services that we use freely. If citizens were informed, the use would be much more responsible. To achieve this, something similar to what some banking entities do could be implemented, which communicate to their customers the savings that having a card contracted with them is supplying them.
The political party makes it easier for politicians who access public institutions to abuse their power and commit acts of corruption (by action or omission), going unpunished thanks to the regulations that they themselves approve. And the consequences can be very serious, since this:
✔ Attempts against society, the moral order, democratic stability and the integral development of the peoples.
✔ It generates marginalization, exclusion and fear in the poorest, since it legitimizes politicians to use power to their advantage.
✔ It is linked to other forms of injustice, such as fraud, discrimination, the failure to prosecute crimes or punish infractions, the appearance of pardons. Even the creation of competitions and rigged competitions to access public office.
✔ It negatively affects the administration of justice, electoral processes, the payment of taxes, economic and commercial relations and social communication.
✔ It is linked to the sale of favors and decisions, influence peddling, illicit enrichment, bribery, etc.
✔ Reflects the deterioration of moral values and virtues, especially honesty and justice.
In addition, to all this we must add another fundamental element: the economic cost of the party. This system misappropriates public funds to use them for the benefit of the powerful.
Not only do they steal our money, which we give with so much effort through our taxes to obtain a more supportive country, but they carry out actions that do not benefit citizens at all, such as:
✔ Unjustified company and personnel contracts.
✔ The omission or ineffectiveness when it comes to prosecuting crimes that harm other people.
✔ The payment of compensation for claims due to the malfunction of the administrations assumed by public money and not the cause of the infringement.
✔ The granting of subsidies and aid of doubtful legality whose money cannot be recovered.
✔ The creation of a fiscal system based on excessive taxes, fees and royalties, with no real possibility of control by the people, which becomes confiscatory.
The fact that there has not already been a drastic change in Spain is due to:
✔ The general ignorance of the functioning of the political and institutional system of our country.
✔ The fear of the population to confront those who live from the party system.
✔ There are many interested in maintaining this system, with which the majority is prevented from thinking or acting.
✔ Many find it more comfortable to vote every four years and stay in their comfort zone, avoiding their responsibility to fight for their rights and freedoms.
But it is only a matter of time, as more and more of us have understood that only a change in the political system could minimize or avoid many of the structural problems and injustices that we suffer in Spain.
I will never respect those who lie, manipulate and intoxicate our society with their hypocrisy to contaminate it with individualism and lack of solidarity; that is, you cannot respect those who do not respect themselves.
