Shell es un niño diferente a los demás, considerado un tonto. Pero cuando seguimos sus pensamientos y reacciones, nos damos cuenta de lo mucho que es un niño que tiene su propia forma de pensar. Quiere a toda costa que el mundo reconozca de lo que es capaz. Shell está dotado de un impulso y una determinación increíbles, que lo impulsan a sobrevivir en las condiciones más terribles. Es muy sensible y al mismo tiempo puede soportar situaciones increíblemente difíciles.
Su reunión con Vivianne trastorna toda su existencia. Entendemos entonces que solo necesita a alguien que escuche con atención y que entienda lo que está tratando de decir y sus gestos a veces incómodos. Vivianne, tan manipuladora como es, está muy unida a Shell. Ella le creó un mundo especial, en el que él es especial y, sobre todo, ella le dice que lo necesita.

Es una novela extremadamente conmovedora, gracias a la elección del autor de ponernos en la mente de este chico especial. El final es desgarrador, e incluso entonces Shell nos sorprende y nos tranquiliza. Una corazonada.

Después de dejar a su familia, el héroe apodado Shell debido a su chaqueta de la gasolinera del mismo nombre, conoce a una niña de su edad, Viviane. Ella se hace llamar Reina de este país y Shell está dispuesta a obedecer cualquiera de estas órdenes. Solo que nunca debería venir a su castillo, rompería el hechizo. Ella también le hace prometer que nunca volverá a llorar, él le hace prometer que nunca se irá. Shell cumplirá su promesa. Viviane no. La historia toma un giro trágico para Shell.
Jean-Baptiste Andrea abre aquí un paréntesis poético y encantador que nos lleva a la tierra de la infancia y la imaginación a través de la narrativa de su joven narrador que, con su verbo teñido de humor. La inocencia y la ingenuidad de Shell lo convierten en un personaje entrañable para el que el afecto es fácil, haciendo que el final sea aún más desgarrador y hermoso al mismo tiempo.

Shell is a different child than others, considered a fool. But when we follow his thoughts and reactions, we realize how much a child is who has his own way of thinking. He wants at all costs for the world to recognize what he is capable of. Shell is endowed with incredible momentum and determination, which drives him to survive in the most terrible conditions. He is very sensitive and at the same time can withstand incredibly difficult situations.
His meeting with Vivianne upsets his entire existence. We understand then that you only need someone to listen carefully and understand what you are trying to say and their sometimes awkward gestures. Vivianne, as manipulative as she is, is very close to Shell. She created him a special world, in which he is special and, above all, she tells him that he needs it.

It is an extremely moving novel, thanks to the author’s choice to put us in the mind of this special boy. The ending is heartbreaking, and even then Shell surprises us and reassures us. A hunch.

After leaving his family, the hero nicknamed Shell because of his jacket at the gas station of the same name, meets a girl his age, Viviane. She calls herself Queen of this country and Shell is willing to obey any of these orders. Only he should never come to his castle, he would break the spell. She also makes him promise that he will never cry again, he makes him promise that he will never leave. Shell will keep its promise. Viviane no. The story takes a tragic turn for Shell.
Jean-Baptiste Andrea opens here a poetic and charming parenthesis that takes us to the land of childhood and imagination through the narrative of her young narrator who, with her verb stained with humor. Shell’s innocence and naivety make him an endearing character for whom affection is easy, making the end even more heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
