Para la ciencia ficción épica, esto es muy bueno. Haciendo malabarismos con múltiples historias con habilidad. Aunque algunos personajes pasan mucho tiempo fuera de las páginas, nunca se olvida de ninguno de ellos. Algunos, en particular Steven, obtienen muy buenos arcos de la historia. Y analiza cómo las personas cambian a medida que envejecen y dejan atrás las cosas más jóvenes.
Podría enfrentar un problema con los crecientes poderes de Syl y Ani, ya que podrían ser fácilmente deus ex machinas, pero se las arregla para evitar caer en esa trampa.
Llegó un punto sobre dos tercios en el que te preguntas si este será el final, ya que todavía parece tener mucho que terminar. Sin embargo, logra hacer eso y poner fin a todo bastante bien. Aunque en el proceso, Paul está bastante apartado y no tiene mucho que hacer. Y no puedes evitar pensar que podría haber habido suficiente historia aquí para hacer otro libro de esto.
Por lo tanto, un poco menos de lo que podría ser una lectura excepcionl como resultado, pero sigue siendo muy bueno y un buen final para una muy buena serie.

El cliffhanger al final del Imperio significaba que no podía leer Dominio lo suficientemente rápido, y funciona. La amenaza tanto para Ilyri como para los humanos está ahora en su punto más grande, amenazando planetas enteros, incluida la Tierra. La escala ha cambiado enormemente desde que Conquest y nuestros héroes han crecido, en edad y en importancia. Con las probabilidades tan fuertemente en contra de ellos, no hay nada que no arriesguen y eso significa que a veces Dominion es una lectura profundamente emocional.
Me encantaron los lugares a los que nos llevan, incluido un entorno que parece completamente fuera del espacio normal por completo. Vemos cosas maravillosas. Todo cae ligeramente en una perspectiva diferente. Las secuencias de batalla son emocionantes: la guerra en los planetas se ha extendido al espacio. Pero igual de tensas son las escenas en las que Syl se aventura más profundamente en la guarida de la mayor amenaza de todas.

Dominio sigue el gran escape de Erebos. Syl y Paul junto a su equipo Nomad toman el agujero de gusano más peligroso donde ninguna persona viva ha regresado. Y Ani permanece en medio de todo el derramamiento de sangre, con una sola promesa; para devolver a la hermandad a su nombre legítimo. Mirando hacia atrás en Conquest y la ingenuidad de los personajes principales realmente me rompe el corazón. Para ver qué tan rápido tuvieron que crecer, evolucionar y adaptarse, se mostró y escribió de manera sorprendente. Los cambios por los que pasaron Ani y Syl, convirtiéndose en algo que ningún ser humano o Illyr considerarían jugaron un papel muy importante. Steven era un miembro mucho más activo, me refiero a tener su propio barco, tripulación y hacer muchísimo más * aplaude * trabajo bien hecho. Paul se adaptó bien, volviéndose más decidido y fuerte, pero ¿será eso suficiente?

Tenemos mucho en personajes secundarios; Vena, Trask, Fremd, Meia, mi robot favorito, y muchos otros. Una cosa que realmente me decepcionó fueron los capítulos menos desde el punto de vista de Syl y Paul. Desde ganar tanto a través de ellos en Conquista e Imperio hasta no mucho en Dominio fue una decepción. Eso no quiere decir que no sea comprensible, estamos obteniendo información de la Marca, la Tierra, Erebos, a diferentes naves; fue perspicaz y justo lo que se necesitaba para compensar la pérdida de sus puntos de vista. Después de todo, la guerra estaba en todas partes, no solo en un planeta. no solo entre dos entidades porque hay una tercera oculta en medio, y mucho más poderosa.

John y Jennifer han hecho un gran trabajo al poner fin a esta trilogía. Aunque esperaba que ciertos personajes desempeñaran un papel mucho más importante al final y no tuvieran lo que les pasó a dichos personajes. El final fue prometedor, lo que dejó suficiente para la imaginación. La relación de Syl y Ani fue algo que mantuvo este libro unido y Syrene, bueno, eso es algo que vale la pena leer por su cuenta. Me encanta el concepto del futuro con los capítulos que muestran lo que condujo a acciones de ‘tal y tal’. Tomó un intento diferente con esto, aunque fue un poco peligroso hacerlo con el libro final, ambos tomaron precauciones y crearon algo único e increíble. Aunque el aspecto descriptivo fue un poco exagerado en el momento, la acción, las peleas y las decisiones que se tomaron lo compensaron. La acumulación fue increíble, tomó algunos giros inesperados. Sin embargo, un final sorprendente para la trilogía de Crónicas de los invasores. Realmente extrañaré este mundo.

Hay mucho que elogiar en este libro, pero quizás nada es tan sorprendente como la progresión de Syl. Una vez que el primer Illyri nació en la Tierra, Syl fue una Nairene, una fugitiva, una amiga, y ahora es vista como enemiga de su propia gente. Pero está decidida a proteger a quienes permanecen contra los Otros, la raza alienígena parasitaria que ha consumido una facción de su gente y le ha costado la vida a su padre. En este capítulo final, vemos cuán lejos ha crecido tanto en sus habilidades telepáticas como en su fuerza. Aunque todavía es, en ciertos términos, una adolescente, ha madurado más allá de sus años y se ha convertido en la defensora del universo que necesita ser.
En Syl convirtiéndose en un adulto, junto a Paul, y en todo el universo desde Ani y Steven, finalmente vemos que la serie llega a donde siempre ha pertenecido: una ópera espacial para adultos que solo tiene niños involucrados. Clasificar esta historia como adulto joven tenía sentido en Conquista, y flaqueó en Imperio, pero en Dominio, encuentra firmemente sus pies en la categoría de adultos. Los dilemas éticos que enfrentan y las guerras que libran han envejecido junto a ellos. Es un hermoso ejemplo que pocas series son capaces de lograr: personajes que crecen y alcanzan la edad adulta con los lectores. Aunque estoy leyendo esta serie como un adulto, y años después de que salió, puedo imaginar haber leído esto cuando se lanzó en mi adolescencia, y cómo los viajes que enfrentan estos personajes imitaron mi propia progresión emocional.

Son muchas palabras para decir algo simple: esta serie es notable, Dominio es un placer, aunque me rompe el corazón saber que este es el final de su historia.

As with previous volumes, this does contain some mild adult themes, violence, and graphic moments.
It does also bring the whole series to a close. In sixteen parts, seventy six chapters, and four hundred and eighty pages.
Following the end of book two, Paul and Syl and friends have gone further than expected. And have to deal with what they find there. What will Ani do next? Civil war has erupted in the empire, with the others at the heart of it. And what will all this mean for life on Earth?

The future of the galaxy depends on the actions of a few…

For sweeping epic science fiction this is very good indeed. Juggling multiple storylines adeptly. Although some characters do spend a long time off the pages, it never forgets about any of them. Some, in particular Steven, do get very good story arcs. And it does look at how people change as they get older and leave younger things behind.
It could face a problem with Syl and Ani’s burgeoning powers, as those could easily be deus ex machinas, but it manages to avoid falling into that trap.
There does come a point about two thirds in where you wonder if this is going to be the end, as it does still seem to have a lot to wrap up. Yet it does manage to do that and bring it all to an end quite well. Although in the process Paul is rather sidelined and doesn’t get much to do. And you can’t help but think that there could have been enough story here to make another book out of this.
So slightly down on what could be a five star read as a result, but it’s still very good, and a nice end to a very good series.

The cliffhanger at the end of Empire meant I couldn’t read Dominion fast enough – and it delivers. The threat to both Ilyri and human is now at its greatest, threatening entire planets, including Earth. The scale has shifted enormously since Conquest and our heroes have grown – in age and in significance. With odds so strongly stacked against them, there’s nothing they won’t risk and that means that at times Dominion is a deeply emotional read.
I loved the places that we are taken to, including one environment that seems outside normal space entirely. We see wondrous things. Everything falls slightly into a different perspective. The battle sequences are thrilling – war on planets has extended into space. But just as tense are the scenes in which Syl ventures deeper into the lair of the greatest threat of them all.

Dominion follows on from the great escape from Erebos. Syl and Paul alongside his Nomad crew take the most dangerous wormhole where no living person has returned. And Ani remains in the midst of all the bloodshed, with a single promise; to bring the sisterhood back to its rightful name. Looking back at Conquest and the naivety of the main characters really breaks my heart. To see how quickly they had to grow, evolve and adapt was shown and written amazingly. The changes Ani and Syl went through, becoming something no human or Illyr would even consider played a huge role. Steven was a much more active member, I mean having his own ship, crew and doing a helluva lot more *claps hands* job well done. Paul adapted well, becoming more determined and strong, but will that be enough?

We get a lot on supporting characters; Vena, Trask, Fremd, Meia – my favourite mech – and so many others. One thing that truly disappointed me was the less chapters from the point of view of Syl and Paul. From gaining so much through them in Conquest and Empire to not much at all in Dominion was a let down. That’s not to say it’s not understandable, we’re getting insight from the Marque, Earth, Erebos, to different ships; it was insightful and just what was needed to make up for the loss of their POVs. After all war was everywhere, not on just one planet. not just between two entities for there is a third hidden in the midst, and much more powerful.

John and Jennifer have a done a great job bringing this trilogy to an end. Though I expected certain characters to play a much bigger role in the end and not have what happened to said characters. The ending was promising, which left enough for the imagination. Syl and Ani’s relationship was something that kept this book together and Syrene, well that is something worth reading on your own. I love the concept of the future with the chapters showing what lead to ‘so and so’s’ actions. It took on a different attempt with this, though it was a tad dangerous to do with the final book, they both took caution and created something unique and incredible. Though the descriptive aspect did go slightly overboard at time, the action, fights and decisions that were made, made up for it. The build up was amazing, took some unexpected turns. Nevertheless an amazing ending to the Chronicles of the Invaders trilogy. I will truly miss this world.

There’s much to praise in this book, but perhaps nothing is as stunning as the progression of Syl. Once the first Illyri born on Earth, Syl has been a Nairene, a fugitive, a friend, and is now seen as an enemy of her own people. But she is determined to protect those who remain against the Others, the parasitic alien race that has consumed a faction of her people and cost her father his life. In this final chapter, we see how far she’s grown both in her telepathic abilities and in her strength. Though she is still, in certain terms, a teenager, she has matured beyond her years, and become every bit the defender of the universe she needs to be.
In Syl becoming an adult, alongside Paul, and across the universe from Ani and Steven, we finally see the series reach where it has always belonged: an adult space opera that just happens to have children involved. Classifying this story as young adult made sense in CONQUEST, and wavered in EMPIRE, but in DOMINION, it firmly finds its feet in the adult category. The ethical dilemmas they face and the wars they wage have aged alongside them. It’s a beautiful example few series are able to accomplish: characters that grow up and reach adulthood with the readers. Though I’m reading this series as an adult, and years after it came out, I can imagine having read this as it released in my late teens, and how the journeys these characters face mimicked my own emotional progression.

That’s a lot of words to say something simple: this series is remarkable, Dominion is a pleasure, and though it breaks my heart to know this is the end of their story.
