Esta breve novela es un buen homenaje a la novela negra y no es por sus citas a Stephen King, que a mi no me gusta, la historia es un guiño al mejor Poe.
Andrew J. Rush es un escritor de éxito, con una mujer con Irene que le entiende, su nueva novela aparece con una dedicatoria de Stephen King, sin embargo recibe una citación y empiezan sus quebraderos de cabeza a su vez su hija Julia cuando lee novelas ve que está citando lo que ocurre a su familia, los miedos y desconfianzas empiezan en su metodología de trabajo y su abogado Grossman le dice que ella es una paranoica que acoso a muchos escritores, King incluido.
Rush está interesado en conocer más de la señora Haider y va a su casa haciéndose pasar por un trabajador de una editorial de libros raros, el ambiente va in crescendo en cada página. Empieza a desconfiar de su mujer Irina y sin duda descubre información de su mujer sobre señora Haider que para nada a muerto y mientras referencias soterradas al «gato negro» de Poe.
Sin embargo cuando va entregar los libros que robo a la señora Haider un suceso le hará ponerse nerviosa cuando la señora Haider lee Irina en el periódico que la mataron con un hacha. Cada vez bebe más y es irreconocible bajo «rey de picas», además su padre muere y no va a verle y su matrimonio con Irina hace agua y plantea venganza pero esa venganza es trágica, se escapa de la manos y ahora querido lector para saber el final debes dar un salto como el de nuestro protagonista.
This short novel is a good tribute to the black novel and it is not because of his quotations to Stephen King, which I do not like, the story is a nod to the best Poe.
