Esta es una nueva novela totalmente aparte de la trilogía de Héctor Salgado ya comentada aquí y por antecedentes es difícil producir un nuevo giro argumental. Totalmente recomendable al crear la atmósfera que quería llevarnos su autor, con grandes guiños a la literatura, Jane Eyre, Freud, Clark y su obra maestra sonámbulos…
La novela ambientada a comienzos del s.XX transcurre la acción entre Viena y Barcelona, el comienzo con una muerte nos adentra en lo que será la relación entre el médico Freixa con Frederic Mayol, más allá de Freud y los pacientes con transtornos mentales, nos va introduciendo a través del colegio de los ángeles en una historia gótica, pero la segunda parte de la novela tiene un hilo argumental más dinámico y electrizante, cuando Frederic vive en el hospital a orillas del mar nada es lo que parece, personajes siniestros en cuanto ruidos, cajas chinas, dibujos y encima un pintor como Biel que tiene miedo cuando aparece su otro ego. Que decir del incendio y los muertos provocados por Irene o Griselda…
La trama va ganando enteros a través de ver al padre Robí en el sanatorio y cuando baja un fin de semana a ver Frederic a su padre y este dice que se casará en los días que le quedan con Montserrat, a partir de aquí investiga sobre el asesinato de Clarisa Miravé, que daba clases a gente de Siemens donde trabajaba su padre y se enamoró de un chico conocido como Guerrero, aunque la familia lo negaba se enamoraron y en una escapada cuando hicieron el amor, el fue a comprarla unas flores y cuando volvió estaba muerta con un pájaro en la boca y el padre Robí lo acompañó en la ejecución. Se producirá un suicidio y momentos de amor (Frederic y Blanca, antigua alumna del colegio). La historia te va intrigando con un diario, la directora que fue del centro (Águeda SanMartín) y además la boda de Gerard con su mujer que aparecerán asesinados con un pájaro en la boca, Frederic vuelve a recurrir a su amigo Juanjo que trabaja en la Vanguardia para información, con sorpresa.
A todo ello la trama va in crescendo cuando Blanca, un tren que viene de Zaragoza y un hijo no conocido de la que fuera directora Águeda, el desenlace en la estación da una nueva vuelta argumental, teniéndote en vilo.
Sin embargo da una vuelta argumental final con el duelo narrativo entre Frederic y Mariona, su amor se desvanecerá quizás, pese a que quería que se escribiese el libro de las experiencias, una cosa es clara cuidado con las cajas chinas en las casas.
Esta novela va atrapándote frenéticamente desde antes de la mitad y no puedes dejarla con unos grandes momentos como el autor nos ha dado muestras de saber hacer.
