Esta es una de las grandes damas de la narrativa americana, su estilo impecable, quizás por momentos al explicar con tanto detalle a lectores les parecerá aburrido, pero esta es una de sus mejores novelas y me pregunto como todavía no ha sido galardonada con el Nobel, la novela nos lleva a los designios de Cassidy Mayfield , la pugna en el amor con su hermana Juliet y con el soldado Kincaid, que viniendo de Irak, tiene problemas, no es el Brett y si el soldado, Cassidy desaparece en Carthage y se la debe buscar, aflora lo más negativo de la familia, las pugnas entre hermanas por el amor, el matrimonio entre Arquette y Zeno se resiente más allá de enfermedades personales de pecho de la cabeza de familia, la rumorología en el vecindario y Cassidy ha muerto el culpable es Kincaid, sin embargo en otro estado de Florida se da una sorpresa que intentará unir a la familia con la reconciliación de las hermanas.
La calidad de su prosa, psicologia de los personajes y sus emociones es indiscutible. Como punto en contra, me parecio una narracion excesivamente descriptiva y en algunos pasajes reiterativa.
Como resumen: una historia bien tejida con unos personajes bien trabajados desde el interior, con un inevitable aroma americano. Una delicia.
