Una interesante novela de este escritor americano casado con una vasca y que centra toda la argumentación de la novela en el país Vasco, su cultura y bombardeo de Guernica, sin duda la primera parte con los personajes muy bien perfilados me gusta más que la segunda parte después del bombardeo, es una buena novela donde se aprende sobre tradiciones familiares, la cultura vasca y donde los términos vascos dan más consistencia al relato, además se mezcla con relatos de los alemanes (Barón Rojo), además de Picasso (pintor del cuadro del Guernica) y la huida de niños vascos a Inglaterra, según uno va leyendo la historia de la familia, Miren, Justo, Miguel, Dodo, Alaia y sus jabones esenciales únicos… Sin duda una novela que deja un buen regusto aunque no toda significación de la cultura vasca sea como se cuenta…pero una visión sin duda interesante.
