Es una novela de «Gabo» que me he releído varias veces y que me parece un breve relato muy interesante, el coronel representa la humanidad y el creer en los valores establecidos, no cree que pueda haber sido engañado por el poder establecido del Estado, además nunca pierde la esperanza en el correo, frente a ello su mujer perdiendo la esperanza y teniendo como mal un gallo al que trata como si fuese un hijo, paternalismo absoluto. Sin duda es uno de los grandes de la literatura del siglo XX y no perderse la pifia del abogado, cosas que cambian menos.
